Southampton Sailing Week and Wessex Heartbeat have today announced an exciting partnership to make the charity, who focus on improving cardiac health in the Wessex region, the ‘Official Charity Partner of Southampton Sailing Week 2020! Last year Wessex Heartbeat sponsored the first day of the three-day event (The Wessex Heartbeat City Cup) and have expanded on this relationship by becoming official charity partner for all three days in 2020.
This will see Wessex Heartbeat giving an introductory speech, holding a raffle and out Sailing in all three days of the 2020 edition of Southampton Sailing Week, where they will be competing on new Sunsail F41.0’s against up to 14 other Yachts per day. Many of the teams from 2019 will be returning to take part again in Southampton Sailing Week, where they will be joined by new sailing teams from businesses across the South.
Wessex Heartbeat Chief Executive, John Munro said “We are delighted to be the Official Charity Partner for Sailing Week 2020! We found our day on the water last year to be so valuable and it helped us make some fantastic connections with some amazing local businesses that will really help us keep people ‘Heart Healthy’ in the Wessex region for years to come. We cannot wait to get back on the water next year and we want to get our hands on one of the cups in 2020 but more importantly we want to get people thinking about how best they can look after their heart and a day sailing really does get your heart pumping!”
Southampton Sailing Week 2020 will take place from the 14th to the 16th of September and will be comprised of three main cups. The Hampshire Cup, Technology & Women’s Cup and The Property & Legal Cup. The days are designed to allow businesses of any size to take part and entertain their clients or staff and build a stronger bond outside of the office or boardroom!
Event Director for Southampton Sailing Week Abi Knapton said “We have loved working with Wessex Heartbeat, and it has been great to see the success that they have had at Sailing Week, so it only made sense for them to come back in 2020 as Official Charity Partner. They do fantastic work educating people on the importance of looking after your heart, something that as a health and leisure based company, we are always looking to do ourselves.”
