At ReesLeisure we work hard to orchestrate all types of events, ranging from sporting to cultural and musical events.
Our aim is to ensure that we are taking the lead and conducting all parts of the event to come together in a symphony or chorus of city spirit. Regardless of the type of event, we aim to develop a greater sense of community spirit and highlight every aspect that the city has to offer.
Previous cultural events that we have worked on include the Southampton City Christmas Lights switch on event and Christmas Light Projections – these included a host of singers and entertainers to build the Christmas spirit in the city in the lead up to the lights switch on and the flying Santa proceeding overhead.
ReesLeisure hosted a one-night-only event taking over the famous Mayflower theatre for the ‘Southampton CelebrationProms’ The event was designed to showcase the city’s local talents ranging from youth theatre groups to ukulele teams, musicals actors, choirs, drummers, and even opera singers! The audience of 2,500 people were delighted to see the local musical artists’ abilities displayed on such a professional platform as the Mayflower Theatre, all whilst raising money for charity.
In 2019, ReesLeisure worked closely with Go Southampton (the city’s BID company), to help bring cultural and sporting mini events into the city for a full month on an urban beach over the summer. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive and provided excellent PR opportunities to highlight Southampton as a tourist destination, as well as offering a wide variety of inclusive and exciting activities for the local residents. As a result of each of these projects, ReesLeisure managerial team are working closely with Southampton City Council to help win the bid for the 2025 City of Culture – a prestigious award that would provide much needed recognition to Southampton for the fantastic cultural opportunities on offer.
